Textures

Our team was assigned to locate textures for our CSULA parcel on SL. To start we located many textures via the internet and the "freebies" we found on SL. As a team we discussed how we wanted the interior to look. We displayed many textures to each other and decided which ones we felt would give a nice feel to our parcel. We wanted the coffee house to be inviting and have a sense of warmth so we decided on warm earthy and neutral colors for the coffee house.

The art museum would have a serene and clean feeling so we chose colors that would help convey those feelings.  Our team was also to find decorations, lighting fixtures and greenery. Aeva worked on the meeting room which will be used a place where SL people can join as a group for meetings and/or conferences. Argos found a our glass texture which gave our parcel an "open" look and found a great island that provided many "freebie" plants which provided our parcel with the final touches. Catt was the team leader for the texture team and scheduled meeting times to go over textures we found and wanted to work with. Catt also delegated the workload and created art for the coffee house as well as post her own art work in the museum. We worked well as a team and collaborated with each other making constant suggestions and changes...trying things out until we found the "right" look. We met as a team at least five times and all contributed work outside of our meeting times to help complete our task as the texture team.

The best experience in SL

I had a lot of fun creating my avatar to fit my personality and at times the person I wish I could be. I also have met new and interesting people. I have been amazed by the amount of different and knowledgeable people that have made SL a part of their daily lives.

The worst experience in SL

The lag on SL can be discouraging at times but overall,

my experience on SL has not only been interesting but exciting as well.

What you have learned in SL

I have learned so much on SL. I have learned how to manipulate my looks,

communicate with others, direct myself to places I'd like to visit, build objects, upload textures, take classes, make money, but most of all....meet new people, especially my classmates. I've had A LOT of fun while learning!

Best experience in SL

My best experience was the collaborative work and effort put into building on the CSULA parcel.  Although we all came in with our own opinions as to what we should build and how, at the end, it all worked out.

Worst experience in SL

I really had a hard time maneuvering my camera around at first.  I felt very limited, but once I learned the short cuts, wow!  Controlling my Avi's movements was my second challenge.

What have you learned in SL

I have learned so much about SL, one being the unlimited experiences SL has to offer within education.  Students can visit places and learn through their experiences about things they wouldn't be able to in a classroom setting.

What you have learned in SL

Not to be afraid to "speak up" and participate when ever the need arises.

The worst experience in SL

Trying to make my Avatar look like I want it too.

The best experience in SL

Working with my Classmates real time in SL.
